El Partisano

Tom O'Hara

El Partisano

Brewery: The Garden Brewery

Position: Head Brewer and Brewery Director

Time at The Garden Brewery: 3.5 years.

Annual hL: 6000

Core range: Pale Ale, Pilsner, IPA and Stouts, then a whole lot of specials.

Primary market: Croatia, our home and geographical base, but we export to a further 15 countries.

How long have you been brewing? 4.5 years

What’s the first beer you ever brewed? A terrible homebrew impression of a Pale Ale.

Besides contribution to the brewing community, why did you want to apply to Project X? It seemed like a really good opportunity to get involved in another aspect of the brewing industry, learn new things, and widen my horizon.

What beer styles do you generally brew? We brew a wide range. Alongside our core styles, we play a lot with kettle sours, double IPAs, milkshake IPAs, and imperial stouts.

How many people are in your team? Currently we have 5 in production, then the sales, marketing and taproom team makes us around 14 in total. That number further increases once you factor in our music festival and events team.

What is your brewery’s message? Our ethos is rooted in consistency, quality, drinkability and innovation. Using only the very best ingredients and processes we create a diverse range of styles, all catered to the global market.

Who are your current suppliers? Alongside Simply Hops, we also work with Hopsi, Simpsons Malt and Yakima Chief.

What has Tom been up to?

We caught up with El Partisano to find out why he wanted to be a Project X ambassador. Coming soon!

What is Project X?

As a craft brewer, are you getting what you want from your hop supplier? BarthHaas and Simply Hops have opened their doors to 5 craft brewers, to help cultivate a new understanding of what you need from us and ensure that we are able to support the craft community the best we possibly can.
